The
Everest Region: Maybe the most recognized region of the country due to the

Mustang is one of the premier destinations for both domestic and foreign
visitors. The region is highly regulated and foreign visitors have only been
allowed from the year 1992 AD. Because of this the region remains somewhat
isolated and the population has a unique cultural identity, influenced by both
Tibet and Nepal. The typical Upper Mustang Trek takes about 17 days and includes visits to the remains
of the ancient Lo kingdom and Muktinath.
