Island Peak Everest Base Camp Trek

Island Peak Everest Base Camp Trek is a combo of a regular Everest Base Camp Trek and Island Peak climbing, a popular trekking peak in Nepal. Island peak is the most sought after trekking peak because of its altitude of just above 6000 meters and fairly moderate geographical circumstances making it a perfect climbing trip in the Himalayas of Nepal. To get to the Island Peak, we take the traditional route to the Everest Base Camp, following the Dudh Kosi valley from Lukla, passing through Namche and Tengboche on to Dingboche. After acclimatization, we then head up the beautiful Imja Khola valley and then to the Island Peak. The most difficult section of the peak is the section mired with steep rock and ice wall at a slope of around 45 degrees leading to the narrow summit ridge. However, the magnificent views from the summit are a priceless reward for the efforts put into climbing the peak.



Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp trek project is intended to carry out both trekking and peak climbing in Nepal for all adventure lovers. Each year more than 300 groups make an effort to scale the summit of Island peak. This trek offers an excellent opportunity to climb this interesting peak together with an exciting trek to the Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar. Besides the adventure trekking, we also get an opportunity to witness the Sherpa villages and ever-so-serene monasteries. With tedious recollections of the trekking earlier done, we retrace our route back through Namche to Lukla, and then fly back to Kathmandu.
Initially, trek to Island peak base camp is made, learn and get detail info with practicing use of climbing gears. A night is spent in base camp. Following day is the hardest day yet as we achieve the summit. The climb starts with a scramble up a rough crevasse to an edge where we put on crampons and rope up for the ice sheet crossing heading towards the south edge. The climb is as steep as 45 degree on the way to summit ridge from where we get astounding views of Lhotse, Makalu, Baruntse and Annapurna panorama trek.

Peak Climbing in Nepal require little or no previous mountaineering experience, it is essential that participants are in excellent physical condition and have some outdoor background. Knowledge of use of ice-axe, crampons and ropes will come in handy. Before the actual climb begins basics of handling ropes and other climbing devices including safety considerations is taught.
